Over the past several months, voters in Massachusetts have engaged in a divisive and expensive battle over whether to raise the cap on charter schools.

Regardless of one’s position on the failed initiative, it is indisputable that there are individual learners in public schools — district and charter — throughout the commonwealth who are not achieving their full potential.

It’s time to move beyond the fights to undertake the challenging but vital task of rethinking schooling across the state so that educators can personalize learning for every student’s distinct needs and passions.
